Academic excellence, natural advantage

At Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School, we welcome students at all year levels, subject to availability. However, we recommend several key entry points where students are best positioned to transition smoothly, form connections, and take full advantage of the School’s academic and co-curricular programs.

Recommended Entry Points

Our most common intake years are:

  • Pre-primary – the beginning of formal schooling in Western Australia and the first year of full-time education at Bunbury Grammar. Starting in Pre-primary helps students build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social development, while becoming familiar with the School environment and values.

  • Year 4 or Year 5 – these mid-primary years are an excellent time to join the School, with students ready to take on greater independence, engage in extension opportunities, and begin building relationships that carry into Secondary. These years also offer ideal preparation for our transition-to-Secondary programs.

  • Year 7 – the major intake into Secondary School. Students enter as a cohort, with dedicated transition programs and new academic and co-curricular opportunities. This is a particularly good entry point for students considering Boarding or co-curricular extension.

  • Year 10 –Year 10 is the ideal time to step up. Many families move to Bunbury Grammar at this stage because their current school can’t offer the subjects their teenager needs to realise their academic goals. Here, students get full access to the ATAR and VET subjects they’re interested in, without restrictions or compromises. It’s a fresh start, with real choice and strong support heading into Years 11 and 12.

While these entry points are recommended, we accept students in other year levels wherever places are available. We encourage families to contact us to discuss the best timing for their child.

Enrolment Process

Enrolment applications are processed in the order they are received. To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend submitting your Application for Enrolment well in advance of your preferred start date. Priority is given to siblings of current students, students requiring boarding accommodation and families relocating to the region.

Early Learning Enrolments

Families wishing to enrol in our early years programs should apply via the Education and Care Enrolment Form. This includes:

  • Little Grammies (3-Year-Old Pre-Kindy)

  • Kindergarten (4-Year-Old Program)

Please note that securing a place in our Kindergarten program requires enrolment in Pre-primary for the subsequent year.
