Swashbuckling Adventures and Literary Legends: Lishman Library’s Book Week 2025 Was Unforgettable!
The air at Lishman Library has been positively buzzing, and for good reason! Book Week 2025 was an adventure for the ages, transforming our beloved library into a vibrant hub of imagination, exploration, and literary delight. To launch our Book Week with an undeniable bang, our Primary students had the incredible opportunity to connect virtually with none other than the literary phenomenon himself, Andy Griffiths! Author of the phenomenally popular ‘Treehouse’ series, his virtual visit set the perfect tone for a week where anything felt possible.
From Crocodiles to Clues!
This year, the Lishman Library truly transformed into a thrilling landscape of literary exploration, guided by the much-coveted Adventurers Passport. Armed with their passports and boundless curiosity, our young explorers embarked on an unforgettable journey, proving that within the pages of a book, anything is possible. It wasn’t just about turning pages; it was about tackling challenges, deciphering mysteries, and unleashing their creativity.
Our brave young adventurers:
- Wrestled Crocodiles! Don’t worry, they were the friendly, bookish kind! Our explorers demonstrated not brute strength, but the power of a keen mind and a vivid imagination to navigate these literary reptilian encounters.
- Solved Tricky Passwords! Cryptic clues and riddles led them from one literary landmark to the next, sharpening their problem-solving skills and encouraging teamwork. The triumph etched on their faces when a password was cracked was a joy to behold!
- Penned Postcards from Imaginary Lands! And as true global explorers, they paused to ‘write postcards,’ sharing tales of their discoveries and perhaps inspiring future readers to pick up a book and embark on their own journeys.
The excitement didn’t stop there as the library itself underwent daily transformations! Tuesday saw us embarking on a thrilling camping exploration. Wednesday brought an Antarctic visit, where friendly penguins were on hand to greet our readers. Thursday embraced the relaxed side of life with our Primary school PJ Day, making for an extra comfortable reading experience! Adding another layer of magic to our week was the special two-day appearance by celebrated author and illustrator, Karen Blair. A truly remarkable talent, Karen Blair is the creative force behind over 20 beloved children’s books, and her sessions left our students inspired and eager to create their own stories and illustrations. And to ensure our Book Week ended with a bang worthy of its adventurous spirit, Friday culminated in a swashbuckling pirate morning tea! It was the perfect, high-energy finale to a week filled with discovery and delight. Book Week 2025 at Lishman Library was a testament to the power of stories, the joy of reading, and the boundless potential of young imaginations. We’re already dreaming of next year’s adventure!
