At Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School, community and service are part of everyday life. Students are encouraged to notice what’s happening around them, step forward when something matters, and contribute in ways that are practical, thoughtful and real.
Through volunteering, partnerships, clubs and service-based programs - including the long-standing Duke of Edinburgh Award - students learn that their actions have impact. They build empathy, confidence and resilience, while developing a strong sense of responsibility to others and to the world beyond the School.
Community engagement at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School is grounded in action. Students are encouraged to notice what’s happening around them, respond with care and take responsibility for making a difference - locally, environmentally and socially.
Opportunities to volunteer and connect with the wider community are woven through everyday school life, from the Primary years through to Secondary School. Sometimes this work is joyful and celebratory. At other times, it is purposeful, reflective and deeply meaningful. All of it helps students understand that their contribution matters.

Light-filled and welcoming, the Lishman Library is a hub for reading, research and study. Flexible spaces support collaboration, while curated resources across all year levels help students build strong learning habits and independent thinking.
Life at Grammar extends well beyond the classroom. Alongside academic, sport, music, performance and other co-curricular programs, students have access to a wide range of clubs and activities that reflect their interests, ideas and curiosity.
These opportunities create space for students to connect, contribute and explore - whether that’s through creative making, problem-solving, friendly competition or shared service. Clubs evolve each year in response to student interest, ensuring there are opportunities for students to find something that resonates with them, or to discover something entirely new! This year, that includes:
- Philosophy Club
- Primary Mathletes
- Robotics (Primary and Secondary)
- Art, Sewing and Textiles Clubs
- Dungeons & Dragons / Warhammer Club
- Skills-based sport clubs, including Basketball, Batting and Netball
- Community-focused initiatives such as Eat Up sandwich-making sessions
Together, these clubs reflect the diverse interests of our students and support wellbeing, confidence and a strong sense of belonging within the School community.

The Duke of Ed has been part of life at Grammar since 1973. For more than 50 years, it has challenged students to serve their communities, develop new skills and grow through experience.
From 2026, the Award will become a cornerstone experience for all students in Years 8, 9 and 10.
Embedded into the middle years, it supports personal growth, leadership and service - while also offering recognised pathways beyond school.
The Award is endorsed as part of WACE, supports experience-based university entry, and is highly regarded by employers. Gold Award recipients are formally recognised by the Governor of Western Australia at Government House.
An introduction to the Award, focused on building commitment through service, skill development, physical activity and an Adventurous Journey.
Greater challenge and responsibility, with extended timeframes, deeper service involvement and a more demanding Adventurous Journey.
The highest level of the Award, including a Residential Project and extended commitments. Gold recipients are recognised at a formal ceremony at Government House in Perth.
