Camps & Tours

Learning on the move

Camps and tours are part of life at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School from the very beginning. Every year group, from Kindy through to Year 12, takes part in age-appropriate camp or tour experiences - from day programs for our youngest students to extended overnight camps and expeditions as students grow.

These experiences help students build confidence, strengthen friendships and see learning in action, often in places far removed from the classroom.

Tours

Offered as opportunities arise, tours give students the chance to travel, compete and experience their passions in new settings - often alongside teammates, classmates and staff. Recent tours have seen students represent the School on a netball tour to New Zealand and a cricket tour to India, combining competition, travel and cultural experience.

Tours are not scheduled every year or for every student. When opportunities do come up, they’re shared clearly with students and families, along with details about who they’re for and how to be involved.

Camp Spotlights

Year 6 Canberra Camp

The Year 6 Canberra Camp is a milestone experience and a highlight of the Primary years. Students spend time in Australia’s national capital, visiting Parliament House and other significant institutions to deepen their understanding of civics and history. Then they embark on a skiing adventure, adding an element of physical challenge and shared adventure as students take to the slopes!

Year 7 Orientation Camp

The first of two Year 7 camps takes students down south to make the most of our own backyard - world-class beaches, forest trails and plenty of time outdoors. Held in the first week of Secondary School, the camp is all about jumping in. Students surf, try new things, work as a team and get comfortable being a Year 7, fast. It’s active, fun, and it sets the tone for Secondary school early! By the end of the camp, names turn into friendships, nerves settle, and students return feeling connected, confident and ready for what comes next.

Year 10 Expeditions

Students take part in an extended expedition and choose between two very different experiences. Walpole Wilderness is a full Outward Bound-style challenge - hiking, navigating, camping and working as a team in remote landscapes. Borneo Bound takes students further afield, combining cultural immersion with hands-on environmental service, including time at an orangutan conservation site. Both expeditions are demanding, rewarding and unforgettable. They push students to step up, back each other and discover what they’re capable of.
