Outdoor and Adventure Learning is an integral part of education at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School. Through a carefully sequenced program of camps and expeditions, students build confidence, resilience and real-world capability - learning to work collaboratively, navigate challenge and develop respect for themselves, others and the environment.
These experiences extend learning beyond the classroom. They are practical, reflective and deliberately progressive, supporting students to grow in independence, leadership and connection as they move through the School.

The Year 6 Canberra Camp places students at the heart of Australia’s national story. Through visits to Parliament House and other significant national institutions, students deepen their understanding of civics, history and Australia’s democratic systems, bringing classroom learning to life in a meaningful way.
The camp also includes a skiing experience, adding an element of physical challenge that builds confidence, resilience and teamwork. As the final camp of the Primary years, this shared experience recognises Year 6 students in their role as student leaders and marks an important transition as they prepare to move into Secondary School.

The Outdoor and Adventure Learning journey culminates in Year 10 with an extended expedition experience - one that generations of students have described as a defining moment of their time at Grammar.
In 2026, students will nominate a preference for one of two expedition pathways. While different in setting, both offer the same educational intent: challenge, growth, teamwork and independence.
Walpole Wilderness is a classic Outward Bound-style expedition, grounded in remote landscapes and physical challenge. Generations of Grammar students have trekked, navigated, camped and problem-solved in this environment, building resilience, leadership and a deep connection to place through shared experience.
Borneo Bound offers a very different kind of journey. Developed through the School’s international partnerships, this expedition combines cultural immersion, service learning and environmental education. Students engage closely with local communities and take part in conservation work, including time spent with an orangutan conservation program - an experience that fosters global awareness, empathy and responsibility.
