Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School is celebrating a proud moment for two of its educational leaders, after both were recognised at the Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia (AISWA) and Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) Certification Celebration, held in Perth on 30 July.
Head of Performing Arts and Director of Music Matthew Cabala was formally recognised after attaining Highly Accomplished Teacher (HA) certification. Director of Teacher Pedagogy Lynette Fahie was recertified as a Highly Accomplished Lead Teacher (HALT), and was also recognised as a qualified assessor for the national certification program - a role that will see her support and assess future applicants across Western Australia.
The AITSL certification is the highest national professional recognition available to classroom teachers in Australia. It's reserved for educators who consistently demonstrate exceptional practice, lift student outcomes, and lead excellence in teaching that extends beyond their own classrooms.
Only 14 teachers have achieved AITSL Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher certification through AISWA over the past two years, making Matthew and Lynette's achievements a genuine standout for the School.
Principal and CEO Matthew O'Brien said the recognition reflected Grammar's culture of professional learning and continuous improvement.
"Matthew and Lynette are exceptional educators whose expertise and leadership have a profound impact on both our students and our staff. Their recognition at the highest levels of the teaching profession is richly deserved," Mr O'Brien said.
"To have two nationally certified expert teachers at Grammar, with a further four currently working towards certification, reflects the calibre of our teaching staff and our commitment to providing the highest quality education for every student."
Mr O'Brien said the School remains committed to fostering an environment where teachers continually refine their craft and collaborate with colleagues in pursuit of excellence.
"Ultimately, the greatest beneficiaries are our students. When outstanding teachers continue to grow professionally, every classroom benefits, and the quality of learning across our School and throughout our region grows with them."
Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School congratulates Matthew Cabala and Lynette Fahie on their achievements, and thanks them for their continued leadership and contribution to educational excellence at the School.
