Mr Brad Dunn who began his teaching career 12 years ago joined the School at the start of the year as a Science and Mathematics teacher. Mr Dunn was excited to join our Community and has so far been enjoying his time at the School.
I grew up in the foothills of Perth and attended Forrestfield Senior High School. After school, I was a bit directionless, and decided to study Law for the sole reason that I had the marks to get into it.
It was not until I had completed my Law degree that I realised that Law was not for me! Luckily, I had also completed a Bachelor of Science at the same time, and so I decided to apprehensively dip my toe into the waters of teaching.
I decided to move out of Perth to Bunbury and started my teaching career in 2008 at Bunbury Catholic College (BCC) teaching Mathematics and Science. I discovered that I thoroughly enjoyed teaching advanced subjects such as Mathematics Specialist and Physics.
I find it very rewarding to be able to explain a difficult concept to a student and have them understand it (and eventually become better than me at it!). I also enjoy being able to relate knowledge learned in the classroom to the real world and I try to incorporate this into lessons wherever I can.
I also spent two years as Head of Mathematics at BCC, and although it was a valuable experience, I did not enjoy being away from the classroom and the huge amount of administrative duties that took up all of my time!
After 13 years, I decided it was time for a change of scenery. I kept hearing about how great Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School was, so I thought I would find out for myself!
So far, I love the friendliness of students and staff, and the commitment to excellence and love of learning. I am looking forward to getting to know everybody and incorporating new technology and ideas into my lessons.
