Student Services

Part of creating a caring environment in which our students can flourish and reach their full potential includes providing services which can assist them in different ways.

Pastoral Care

As pastoral care is central to everything we do, students in Primary and Secondary School have access to our School Counsellors and to our Chaplain for advice and counselling services. Our School Nurse is also readily available to offer care and emotional support. During the day, the School Nurse is based in the Health Centre at the Eric Speed Centre, and each weekday morning visits our Boarding houses to touch base with students who have existing medical issues or to check on anyone who may have become ill.

Academic and career advice

A Senior Mentor provides support and advice to Secondary students considering their next moves after Secondary School. The Senior Mentor also assists students in making the transition from Year 12 into their first year of university, work or study. By staying in contact with students once they have graduated, the Senior Mentor can offer support during their progression from Secondary to tertiary education and life beyond the School.

Our VET programme has been running for over 40 years. Students have access to career guidance and VET training while still at school. Providing our students with the right information on trades, apprenticeship, and university and study options is an important part of helping them plan their futures.

Our e-mentoring programme has also been developed to provide support to students making the transition from Year 12 into tertiary education or work after graduating from School. Not only does it provide support for students entering their first year out of school but also aims to strengthen former students’ connection with the School.

School leadership

There are also many more people who contribute to the overall wellbeing of each student at School. These include classroom teachers, Heads of House and Associate Heads of House, the Heads and Deputy Heads of Primary and Secondary Schools, the Head of School, the Head, Deputy and Associate Heads of Boarding, and significant student leaders.
