Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School Head Girl and Dux of 2017 Amber Anderson has been announced as a recipient of a 2018 UWA Fogarty Scholarship.

This high flyer received an ATAR of 99.0, which secured her a scholarship to the prestigious University of Western Australia.

Amber attributed to her time at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School to making the transition into college life much easier.

"The school allowed me to get involved in heaps of academic, music and sporting competitions and clubs. I wouldn't have been aware of how much there is to be a part of if it wasn't for Bunbury Grammar," Amber said.

The scholarship will help fund Amber's honours degree in Environmental Science and Politics and International Relations. She then endeavours to study post-graduate law, focusing on environmental and international affairs.

Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School’s Head of School, Michael Giles, congratulated Ms Anderson and said it was well deserved.

“Amber not only performed exceptionally well academically, but was also widely involved in leadership and service opportunities throughout her time at the School,” Mr Giles said.

“Amber made a significant and lasting contribution to the School community since joining in 2012 as a Boarding student. Her genuine care for others and thoughtful approach made her an outstanding representative of our School. Her application to her studies enabled her to achieve consistently to a very high standard across a range of disciplines.”

The modest 18-year-old was one of only 10 students awarded the scholarship, which are selected based on academic excellence and outstanding achievements in at least three of four categories (leadership, community involvement, the arts and sport).
