Organic Waste Kitchen Caddies

Organic Waste Kitchen Caddies

Every Primary family has taken home an organic waste kitchen caddie and a roll of compostable bags in an effort to reduce landfill, thanks to the Shire of Capel.

Head of Primary, Mr Rob Whirledge, said it was part of a wider school effort to promote and encourage sustainable habits.

“The aim is to boost organics recycling within the region and reduce the amount going to landfill,” Mr Whirledge said.

“The Kitchen Caddies are a nice sized container with a sealed lid which can sit on the bench, collecting kitchen scraps for transport to the organics wheelie bin outside.”

“This is just one of the ways our School is trying to minimise and educate students about their impact on the environment. Our community Grammar Garden also provides a wonderful space for our children to learn and explore the natural environment.”

The School has placed strong emphasis on sustainability through its recent installation of solar panels and significant improvements in water efficiency.
