Ella McCarthy: 11-year-old billionaire

Ella McCarthy explained at assembly in Week 6 how she is one of the richest people in the world.

“No, I don’t own a house with a million dollar view, or a snazzy red Ferrari, nor do I go on five star luxury holidays each year. In fact I only have around $20 in my piggy bank (maybe because my mum keeps raiding it). To me, being rich and wealthy is not about the possessions you own. Sure money can buy a lot of things, but that’s it. They’re just things!”

Ella outlined the seven elements that make her, and many of us, so wealthy:

1. Hugs.

2. Friends and Family.

3. Smiles.

4. Sleep.

5. Laughter.

6. Happy memories.

7. Love.

“Don’t focus on the things you don’t have and be grateful for the valuable things you do have. If I asked you if you were wealthy, what would your answer be now?”

An inspiring speech that puts life into perspective and encourages us all to acknowledge the positives rather than take it for granted. Thanks Ella for the advice!
