Round Square in Primary

Our Primary students complete a range of projects to assist in raising awareness of the Round Square IDEALS. Year 5 students will receive a passport to enable them to achieve the Bronze level of the Young Round Square Award. Students can also apply to attend a regional conference. Year 6 students can apply to participate in the Radford Exchange program and elect to continue to participate in the Young Round Square Award.

Exchange Opportunities

A Round Square exchange represents a unique opportunity for Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School students to discover what they are truly capable of achieving, by embarking on an adventure to experience the life and traditions of another school and family. Being on exchange encourages students to:

  • Step out of their comfort zone
  • Live and learn in a setting that is different from their own
  • Experience and develop a deeper understanding of different schools, environments or cultures
  • Gain important life skills like empathy, independence, flexibility and cultural responsibility
  • Be a positive ambassador for our School.

Year 6 students are eligible to go on Exchange to Radford College in Canberra. Expressions of Interest Forms are available here.

Year 8 students take part in national exchanges. This type of exchange occurs with schools within the Australasian region and usually within Australia. The exchanges are of a reciprocal nature in that students would go to another school for two weeks and is then be expected to host their exchange partner for two weeks, or vice versa. Please read the Exchange Information and download the Year 8 Exchange Application. Applications need to be made by Week 9 Term 1 each year.

International Exchanges are available to students in Year 10. The Exchange is usually for a period of 6 to 10 weeks and can take place all year round. All exchanges are conducted through Round Square Schools with a similar ethos to our School. In most cases, your child would be exchanging with another student from the host school, ideally spending time with that student in their school before hosting them in ours, or vice versa. Applications are to be made when the student are in Semester 1 of Year 9. Please read the International Exchange Information and complete the International Exchange Application

All students who participate in exchanges are covered under Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School’s travel insurance policy

Round Square International Service Projects

Each year, students are given the opportunity to join an RSIS Big Build Project. Round Square host two unique service projects for 50 students in July and December each year. Students work together with a rural community in need to build a vital piece of infrastructure. In the past this has been classrooms, accommodation for teachers, bridges and clean water systems. These projects are very popular, so if you believe your child will embrace these opportunities, please encourage them to apply without delay as places fill up fast. Places are filled on a first come, first served basis while aiming to maintain a balance of nationalities and genders on each team.  Visit the Round Square Website for details of the current projects. Students my register by visiting the Round Square Intranet site. Log in using the generic student username and password provided above.
