Camillo Pillonel and Taj Fowler, Year 10, received $250 for our school and inclusion in Great Ocean Road’s 2020 calendar.
“I was impressed, to be honest. There were a fair few people entering, so I didn’t think we were going to win,” said Taj.
Along with more than 1,330 students from 72 different schools, the team from Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School spent the semester whipping up a storm in the kitchen, thanks to the Great Ocean Road – Careers made here – Cheese Your Own Creation program.
As part of a national competition, the students designed their own unique dairy creations. After that, they submitted the recipe and photo of their creation to the judges.
“Camillo and I decided to do a choc chilli milkshake because it sounded different. I didn’t expect it to be nearly as good as what it was. It tasted really nice,” said Taj.
“We have been really impressed by the creativity and imagination of the students,” Tracy Wong, Great Ocean Road Senior Brand Manager, said.
The program ran as part of the school’s Food Technology class. As part of the program, they provided students and teachers with resources and curriculum.
“Every school and student should be proud of what they have achieved during the program. It was a very hard task to choose only 12 recipes from so many unique dairy creations.”
Tracy said, “It is a great opportunity for students to have fun while learning important life skills like cooking and getting to know more about the wide range of career opportunities in Australia’s vibrant dairy industry.”
