Since human life began, people have yearned to learn more about the wonders of the natural world – which is exactly what Science is about. Today’s exciting developments in Science and Technology permeate every aspect of our lives, and this is the context in which Science at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar school is taught.
Our practical and relevant learning programme has been designed to ensure that students are energised and enthused to learn more. We encourage students to think creatively and to apply their new knowledge to develop solutions to the big issues facing the World today. Our range of assessments include traditional tests, written assignments and examinations and less traditional methods, designed to allow all students to show their potential through video, podcasts and other digital formats. Teachers maintain an innovative teaching style and students are encouraged to share and express their views as a healthy way of improving understanding and dispelling myths and misinformation.
The Science learning area operates together in a purpose built suite of laboratories. Teachers are highly experienced practitioners who as passionate about the many facets of Science learning. We have experienced a high uptake of students in senior Secondary years taking two or more WACE Science courses. This has also resulted in our senior students obtaining outstanding ATAR scores. In the past few years, our students’ performances in the WACE examinations has put several of our courses in the top 15 in the state.
