Students steal the show at Eisteddfod

Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School’s bands and ensembles shined bright at the Eisteddfod’s closing performance on Saturday, 17 June.

The following School bands won first place:

  • Intermediate Concert Band
  • Senior Concert Band
  • Brass Ensemble
  • Big Band
  • Primary Strings Ensemble*
  • Flute Ensemble*

The remaining School bands – the Primary Choir*, Senior Strings Ensemble and Jazz ensembles – placed a commendable second place.

Acting Head of Learning Arts Shaun Molewyk said the Eisteddfod was a fantastic opportunity for students to perform in a formal setting.

“Students have worked hard in various ensembles to reach a high standard, reflected in the six first places we received in the ensemble sections,” Mr Molewyk said.

“The students should feel proud of their accomplishments as a result of their effort.”

“The Eisteddfod is one facet of our exciting Performing Arts programme whereby students can excel and realise their potential in the Arts.”

In its 59th season, the WA Performing Arts Eisteddfod began on Thursday, 25 May and closed on Saturday, 17 June and was held at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.

Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School provides an array of Music and Performing Arts opportunities for students both within the School curriculum and as co-curricular options.
