Netball teams in WA's top eight

On Friday, 28 July, two Representative Netball teams, Hawks 1 (Senior) and Hawks 3 (Intermediate), battled the wild weather to compete and earn a place in the School Sport Grand Final Day for an opportunity to be crowned the WA Netball School Champions.

Both teams made it to the final, placing them in the top eight from 100 schools across the state in each division.

Hawks 3 were two down at half time against the tall timbers of Mandurah Catholic College. They fought hard but lost by six in the end and had nothing left in the tank.

Hawks 1 were even at full time in their Grand Final to play over time and won by one point on the whistle, which means they progress to Grand Final Day and are ranked as one of the top four teams in the state. This is a first for BCGS and is a huge achievement by all.

Thank you Mrs Leonie Sutherland for battling the 100km winds, hail and managing your players in tough conditions with no injuries. Thank you Keith for driving the bus at 6.00am in the morning and supporting the girls throughout the day. Thank you to Tash ONiell, whose passion and encouragement was fantastic with her players throughout the day. Also thank you to all staff at School who took our classes while we were battling the rain.

Hawks 1 will play in the semi-finals against the top four schools on Wednesday, 16 August.

Congratulations and good luck!
