BCGS pair heading to US

Two Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School students were named as 2017 Yosemite Alcoa Scholars to participate in the NatureBridge Alcoa Scholars program from 6 August to 19 August 2017.

Year 11 students Emma Kirkham and Emily Graham were among 55 other 16 to 18 year olds from across the globe that received the scholarship.

Scholars will learn more about environmental science through hands-on activities at Yosemite National Park in California.

The pair were selected for the program based on their demonstrated passion for the environment, experience in giving back to the community and desire to learn more about themselves and the world in a team setting.

The program aims to enhance the students’ ability to effectively address environmental challenges in their home and school communities. It a joint initiative between the Alcoa Foundation and NatureBridge.

Twelve days will be spent in the field and two days will be allocated to travel.
