Pastoral Care

In talking to parents of boarders it is very clear that, as well as the beautiful grounds and facilities and the co-educational nature of boarding, one of the most appealing features of boarding at the Grammar School is the level of care provided by our boarding families.

All staff who work in boarding love what they do and are committed to providing quality residential care.  Our boarding families are totally involved in the School community, with the Heads of House and Assistant Heads of House also employed as teachers within the School.  The big advantage with this ‘carry over’ is the way in which we can monitor the pastoral and academic progress of each individual at School and within the boarding environment.  Heads of Boarding Houses attend weekly academic meetings and pastoral care meetings at School which monitor the progress of individual boarders.

All staff involved in the Boarding community also attend weekly boarding meetings to discuss the general well-being of each boarder.  The School Chaplain and Counsellor are also regular visitors to the Boarding community, providing additional support and resources.
